Choosing an affiliate marketing strategy: A Critical Factor
Possibly one of the biggest mistakes I did and many others also commit as an affiliate is non adherence to a concrete strategy on how to build a affiliate marketing business.
Here’s sample from my initial months. For a month it was niche content websites where i knew i would make my mark, then it went to Search arbitrage because of the the buzz surrounding it. I bought an ebook and quickly became a believer in email marketing. Then I also had plans to get into ebook publishing and was seduced by the idea of how lucrative Ebay can be. Then someone told me the gold which was lying in membership websites and that particular belief was replaced when a friend recommended opening a Yahoo small business store. All this happened simultaneously. Aah did I tell you my mind also started tricking me into getting into Made for Adsense websites and finding a Spamming mentor who could coach me in Black belt Ultra Ninja tactics!
Jay Abraham one of America’s pioneering business consultants tags this mindset as an opportunist mindset. An opportunist will run wherever there is money .He will be like the circus clown who will start acting idiot whenever he sees a crowd passing by.
A strategic mindset on the other hand will seek an unfulfilled market and see how he best serve it with his talents or strengths. He thinks not about now but rather now and future. He is not bothered whether Ad sense is hot as of now or that ring tone markets should be promoted via Pay per click or all gold will be gone from earth.
Which mindset do you cultivate ?
How to Choose a Strategy
A quick research of all successful entrepreneurs online will reveal the fact that they made a strategy for themselves and then stuck to it. They became the best at what they do. The internet will become more unforgiving in the near future to mediocrity.
Simply put, evaluate your strengths and find what is that you can do best and then stick to it.Here’s a good video by Dr Tim Berry (Business Coach and Online Entrepreneur) which pretty much summarizes the article. He uses the word tactics in place of opportunity.
