Why Affiliate Marketers Fail ?

It’s no hidden truth that over 95% of all online entrepreneurs fail. A quick look at forums and you found find topics such as “the internet is saturated”, “there is too much competition” ,”it’s all hyped up”. As an affiliate marketer who has seen a long spell of failure, trust me on this: The internet is just starting out and it is still in its Wild West days. The same depressing posts I find today I also see it in forum archives dated 2002!

A large majority of us fail to realize that the same principles which work offline, often also yield results online. For example someone who wants to become a carpenter offline, he would undergo training for a few months and start his business. On the other hand we as online entrepreneurs start a business and then as a second thought give attention to training. Success online depends not on capital investment, there are no entry barriers; it simply depends on Know how. The know how is the only thing which separates success from failure.

The second most important element of failure is: We quit too early. I learned a very important concept from a presentation by John Reese regarding success stages online. John points that he saw three distinct stages in online entrepreneurs.

Stage #1: Exploration: The internet world is so large and the term internet marketing encompasses a huge gamut of activities. An entrepreneur becomes convinced that there is huge potential in the simple looking web pages and starts evaluating different opportunities. A major problem now becomes where to start?

Stage #2: Making Some Money : The online entrepreneur  finally figures a way in which in starts making a few dollars.

Stage # 3: Expansion: In expansion phase online entrepreneurs find a groove or a process which works and expand on it. You have to work to expand the scope of your work: Outsource , buy get more traffic … This is the phase where earnings see a big boost. He however said most people never go past the second stage.

There a maxim which holds true every time online: If you can make a single dollar online, you can hit other figures too. If you are failing as an affiliate marketer , remember it’s not the internet , it’s your know how.Commit yourself to learning.
